Kids gets lesson in health from UA coach, congressman

The children in attendance were delighted by two Razorback mascots who kicked-off the agenda. They
recognized Heath as well as University of Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles, who was in
attendance, but they’re attention was captivated by Andy Core, a local professional speaker who’s
two props demonstrated the difference between 5 pounds of fat and 5 pounds of muscle. Core added
the use of sign language and specifically the similarity in the signed words of brave, healthy
and strong, to secure the audience’s attention and convey his message.
"If we’re healthy, we feel good and we don’t get sick," Core said. "Fitness means we’re strong. But you don’t have
to be an athlete to be strong. There are lots of people just in their jobs who have to be strong.
The firemen you see have to be able to pull a heavy hose up flights of stairs to do their jobs.
They have to be strong."

The coalition kicked off a campaign in Northwest Arkansas Friday to combat the alarming increase in childhood obesity by promoting
physical activity and healthy eating.
